Drug Rehabs Using Drugs One of the myths about addiction is that it is a disease from which one can never fully recover. That myth then justifies the use of drugs (which are usually also addictive and harmful, but legal), to handle the "disease". But what is the difference between being on a legally addictive substance (Methadone comes to mind here) and an illegal substance like Heroin? The question becomes even more important when one finds out that the replacement drugs are nearly always more harmful and much harder to get off of than Heroin. The truth is that addiction is not a disease. It is a problem behavior. And the person does not have to live with the addiction forever. They can recover permanently with a proper rehab program, and without going to meetings for the rest of their lives.
